This is my take on The Red Spot, a creepy story from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz. I wanted the illustrations to be graphic and intense - something that really sticks with the reader. Since the story is horror, I leaned into scary, gross visuals to match the mood and make people think about how they’d react in the same situation. It’s aimed at teens and young adults, so the goal was to shock and disturb, just like the story does.
